Bat-Ulzii Baatar is the CEO and director of The Mongol Khan and of HERO Entertainment, the studio he founded in 2004. His 2022 staging of Tamgagüi Tör has been performed in Ulaanbaatar, London, Singapore, Tokyo and Nagoya.

He worked with prominent Mongolian television networks and production companies, including the Mongolian National Broadcaster and G Entertainment. In 2004 he founded HERO Entertainment and has served as its CEO and director ever since.

Throughout its years of operation, the company has successfully delivered over 90 music videos for leading artists and approximately 350 commercial advertising projects. Its extensive body of work encompasses feature-length documentaries, narrative films, biographical documentary series, entertainment programs and live shows, as well as diverse stage and set design productions. Beyond film and television production, the company has also successfully organized and executed a wide range of entertainment and event-related projects, including official ceremonies for government institutions, organizations and businesses, prestigious social and cultural events, and various charitable and philanthropic initiatives.

His 2009 feature Bi Chamd Khairtai-2 became one of the most-watched films in Mongolian cinema. Operation Tatar, released in 2010 and toured internationally the following year, received the Jury’s Choice Prize at the 15th Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival in South Korea and was selected among the top ten Asian films at the 13th Far East Film Festival in Udine, Italy.

Since 2012 he has created and produced the television series Mongol Tulgatnii 100 Erkhem (“100 Distinguished Mongolians”), featuring prominent Mongolians from Mongolia and from Mongolian communities abroad; it drew large audiences in Mongolia as well as in China and Russia.

In 2020, with the Ministry of Culture of Mongolia, he organised a nationwide charity telethon in support of children. It raised MNT 2.2 billion, drew more than 1.6 million viewers and gathered over 350 artists from Mongolia, Buryatia, Tuva, Inner Mongolia and Kalmykia across an eight-hour live broadcast.

Also in 2020, with the country under pandemic restrictions, he directed the Naadam Festival — Mongolia’s largest national celebration — in an entirely digital format for the first time, broadcast live to 373,000 views; the 2021 Naadam concert reached 870,000. That same year he created Quarantine-14, a fourteen-day live show made for audiences in lockdown, which reached 1.2 million views.

In 2022 he staged Tamgagüi Tör at the State Academic Drama Theatre, after the work of the Mongolian People’s Writer Lkhagvasuren Bavuu, presented as a physical-drama production. It subsequently travelled, as The Mongol Khan, to the London Coliseum, the Sands Theatre in Singapore, and to Tokyo and Nagoya.
